Gas Tag is pioneering technology, which is set to revolutionise gas safety and save people from the dangers of illegal and dangerous gas fitters. Through a relationship with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), our patent pending innovation allows only Gas Safe Register engineers to sign-in by touching their smartphone against a Gas Tag located on the gas meter when they visit a registered property. This provides the landlord or homeowner with a dashboard of all gas works carried out at their properties. The work is geo-tagged, time-stamped and photo-verified and appears on a portal that the landlord or homeowner can see. By providing landlords and homeowners with a simple, cost-effective gas safety monitoring solution, we believe Gas Tag will save lives as well as money and time.
1 in 6 homes in the UK have an unsafe gas appliance. Every year, people are needlessly injured or killed by unsafe gas appliances. Those deaths and injuries could be prevented, but are not, because ‘it’s always been done that way’. Our aim is to change that way of thinking. The technology is available to us, so let’s use it to save lives!
The app for Gas Safe Register engineers will shortly be available for IOS and Android devices. The Gas Tag subscription is available now for housing associations and will be available for private landlords and homeowners in the next two months.
We’ve met a lot of people over the last few years that have lost family members due to carbon monoxide poisoning, including Gordon and Avril Samuel from the Katie Haines Memorial Trust who sadly lost their daughter in 2010. Meeting people who are grieving the loss of their children really hits home the importance of what we’re doing.
We are dedicated to stopping illegal gas fitters as well as people cutting corners and eradicating needless incidents of carbon monoxide poisoning and gas explosions through technology.
Gas Tag is the only proactive approach to gas safety. Carbon monoxide alarms are great but they are a second line of defence.
If you employ a carpenter in your home to fit your door and it doesn’t close properly, it’s not the end of the world. If a gas fitter carries out work at your home and there is a leak, someone can be seriously injured. Gas Tag creates an audit trail to find out who signed into a property to undertake work and what other works they have carried out. If there is a problem, we can identify potential issues elsewhere.
